According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute the country’s iron ore imports totaled 628,500 tonnes in August, falling by 9% year on year and slumping by 20% from a month ago.
In August, Brazil was the largest iron ore exporter to Turkey with 341,037 tonnes; Sweden was the second largest one with 165,064 tonnes and Ukraine was the third largest one with 108,316 tonnes.
In the first 8 months of this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 5.4 million tonnes higher than 4.8 million tonnes in the same period of 2012.
